Produced with 100% Fiano grapes grown in Leverano, near Lecce, this white wine from the Apulian Conti Zecca winery owes its name to the dialectal term "mendola", almond: there was in fact the habit of cultivating almond trees among the rows to ensure a shelter for farmers on sunny days. The grapes harvested are subjected to de-stemming and soft pressing with subsequent fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature and final refinement in cement coated with food resins.
Characteristics of this Apulian wine
The organoleptic examination shows a straw yellow color with greenish reflections and fruity olfactory notes of banana, pineapple and apple. On the palate there is a slight savory vein and a persistent finish.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this Apulian white wine
To be paired in particular with all fish-based dishes, especially first courses such as risotto with seafood, linguine with cuttlefish ink; try it with white meats too. Serve at a temperature of 8-10 ° C in a tapered glass.
