The history of the Contini Family has been intertwined with viticulture since 1898, when the founder Salvatore Contini began to devote his soul and body to the production of Sardinian wines and their enhancement: For example, it was thanks to its commitment and dedication that Vernaccia became the first Sardinian wine to obtain the denomination of controlled origin. The estates of the Contini family amount to about 100 hectares divided between Penisola del Sinis, Pendici del Monte Arci and Valle del Tirso. It is right near this last one that takes place the cultivation of grapes of Vernaccia and Vermentino that give rise to the "Karmis", born precisely to emphasize the historical vine Vernaccia. Cultivated on soils of alluvial, sandy and clayey origin, and favoured by a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and very hot summers, the grapes are harvested in the first half of September: the vinification in white foresees soft pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature in steel. It is then aged in steel and then in bottle.
Characteristics of this wine from Contini Winery
The wine shows a pale yellow color, intense and luminous. The nose is rich and fruity with hints of citrus, citron, ripe fruit and acacia flowers. In the mouth it has a nice structure, aromatic and mineral but with a pleasant sapid finish.
Suggested pairings tasting this Sardinian wine
An excellent wine to accompany appetizers, pasta and seafood crudité but also soft cheeses. The optimal serving temperature is 12ºC in a glass not very wide.
