The revenge of an almost forgotten territory, like a gold mine buried by time, enclosed in a single and 'banal' bottle. For many it may seem like a fictional and far too romanticized story, but it is nothing but reality. Here in Offida, a medieval town in the Marche hills, they know very well how to produce wine. The famous Montepulciano and Sangiovese grape varieties, from which the grapes are taken to produce this wine, are only the first of the many examples that could be mentioned. The winery Ciu' Ciu' in fact has been able to cleverly and expertly combine the love for the territory and the environment, with elements of innovation. He renounced the use of products of animal origin, limiting himself to only components of plant origin; later he obtained the certification "Vegan Vegetarian Quality", the first certification at national level for vegetarian and vegan products. Speaking of techniques and tradition, however, very special is the type of cultivation adopted in these vines, so called espalier reared in spurred cordon. The system is based on the presence of a vertical stem, tied with a wire to the next stem, as if it were a real permanent cord. It’s on this joint that you hang spurs of 2-4 gems, so that they’re best exposed to sunlight. The grape variety used in blend provides for the use of 70% of Montepulciano, and 30% of Sangiovese. The origin of the vines is in the municipality of Acquaviva Picena and Offida, in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The harvest from the second decade of October provides for the vinification according to the traditional method in red with cold racking. It follows the aging that develops in oak barrels for about 12 months.
