Wine description

The Santanella is a prestigious wine of the Mandrarossa winery. It comes from soft hills on the Arancio Lake with clay soils that give fragrance and a mineral taste to the wine. The soil is located at Santannella area in Melfi in the Agrigento province. The wine is made by 70% of Fiano and a 30% of Chenin blanc. It is certified Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT. The profit is 85 quintal per hectare and the density are 4500 trees per hectare. The soil is located at 200-350 meters above the sea level. The exposition is south, south-east which is the perfect position to follow the sun. There is a first step of cryomaceration at 5-8°C. It follows the fermentation in steel at 16°C. Finally, the maturation in barrels and the final aging period of 4 months in bottle.

 

Characteristics of the white Fiano - Chenin Blanc "Santannella"

It has a very charged yellow color with gold reflections. The smell is intense with ripe fruits aromas together with dry fruits such as almonds and nuts. The taste is full, with a fresh and pleasant mineral aroma.

 

Suggested pairings with this white wine

The Santannella of Mandrarossa is ideal to be matched with aged cheeses, white meats and grilled vegetables. It can be aged up to 5 years. It must be served at 12°C in a high and wide wine glass.
