Thanks to the dry climate and the sandy soils rich of iron, the Timperosse area represents the best habitat for the cultivation of the Petit Verdot. It is used 100% of these grapes for its production and it is certificated with the IGT Rosso Terre Siciliane. The soil is especially sandy and the profit is 100 quintals per hectare with the guyot cultivation method and the density is 4500 trees per hectare. The soils are located at 100-250 meters above the sea level and the exposition is south. There is the maceration for 4-6 days at 15°-18°C. The maturation lasts 3 month in steel tanks at 10°C and finally the aging period in bottle lasts 4 months.
Characteristics of the Petit Verdot "Timperosse" wine
This wine has refined and elegant characteristics. It has an intense red color with purple reflection. The smell is intense, with black mulberry and prunes together with aromatic herbs such as the rosemary and the sage. The taste is enveloping, young and lively with soft and kind tannins.

The Verdot of Mandrarossa is an excellent Sicilian wine perfect for cheeses or with the Mediterranean tuna. The perfect match ever is the caciucco. It has to be served at 16-18°C in wide wine glasses. It can be aged for 3 years.
