Wine description
From the use of pure Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes comes this Abruzzo red wine from the Collefrisio Winery: the harvest involves a careful selection of the best grapes, grown in the winery's vineyards on clay and limestone soils. After the grapes are harvested at the beginning of November, they are destemmed and pressed. This is followed by maceration on the skins for a minimum of four weeks and a long refinement in barique for 24 months, followed by a further period of one year in the bottle.
Characteristics of this Abruzzi wine
It has a very intense garnet red colour. The olfactory profile brings out notes of pomegranate, cherry and berries as well as violets and spices. On the palate it is velvety, with great persistence.
Recommended pairings with this Abruzzi red wine
Excellent with meat or game dishes, but also with mature cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 16-18 C°.
