Description du vin

The variety Lagrein is famous since more than 600 years. In the area of “Lindenburg” estate the structures were renewed in the 50s of the past Century. The winery Alois Lageder decided to preserve the cultivation method called “pergola”, that from one side protect the vines and the soils, deep and sandy, from the sun rays that during the summer hit the zones near Bolzano, and from the other, underlines and characterize the style of this particular wine. Its important structure doesn’t cover its class and its fruity hints. The result is the precise profile of this wine, that can be submitted to long periods of aging. It is produced with 100% Lagrein grapes cultivated around Lindenburg estate, located near Bolzano, in a little village called Villa. The soils, that have alluvial origin, are elevated 280 meters on the sea level and their extension touch Talvera river. The age of the vineyards swings between 21 and 41 years old. The harvest starts on October, followed by spontaneous fermentation and maturation. The malolactic fermentation is then managed in steel with a further aging in barriques for 15 months.

 

Features of Lagrein Lindenburg

Cherry red colour with ruby shades. Its perfume is rich, characterized by an intense bouquet, fruity, spicy and with interesting hints of leather and dark chocolate. The taste has a vigorous structure full of tannin. It is dynamic, bitter and fresh at the same time. The perfect aging lasts from 3 to 10 years.

It is perfect with structured second courses of the Italian kitchen. It is suggested with red meats, game, and different types cheese, even aged or mouldy. It has to be served at 18°C in a wide wine glass that guarantees oxygenation.
