For the production of Löwengang Uvaggio Storico, the Alois Lageder winery uses vineyards raised in Carmenère. The blend consists of Carmenère, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes. This wise vinification was planted in the heart of the vineyard at the beginning of the twentieth century, with vines that in part reach 140 years of age, is one of the oldest vineyards in South Tyrol. In order to protect this unique genetic heritage in the future, a few years ago the winery reproduced the vines by mass selection. Some young vines, thus expanding the area of the plot. As mentioned, the blend is made from grapes of "Carmenère" Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The traditional method of breeding is organic and dynamic controlled agriculture, with Demeter certification. The origin is that of the best plots belonging to the Löwengang Estate in Magrè Altitude at an altitude of 230 maximum 330 meters above sea level. the soils are sandy, gravelly and very calcareous. The age of the vines reaches 100 years, but the blend also includes young vineyards of just 18 years. The harvest takes place in the first week of October and the grapes are immediately vinified. Maceration is spontaneous. The wine is then aged with malolactic fermentation in steel and the wine is then aged in barriques for about 16 months.
