The Pinot Grigio of the Tramin winery belongs to the Burgundy Pinot family and it is strictly related to the Pinot Grigio and with the senior of every pinot the Pinot Nero. The DOC denomination is “Südtirol – Alto Adige DOC. The grapes used are 100% Pinot Grigio coming from the areas of Montagna, Egna, Termeno and Ora. The grapes come from vineyards extended on calcareous, clay and pebbly soils located at 250-500 meters above the sea level. The profit is 75 hectoliters per hectare. After the harvest the grapes are softly pressed and the maturation takes place in steel tanks at 19°C. There is no malolactic fermentation.
Characteristics of the Pinot Grigio DOC wine
It can be aged until 4 years. It has a bright straw yellow color. The perfume is wide and floral with remarkable apple and millefiori hints. The taste is sensational. It is also delicate and soft and when aged there are some nuts and honey hints in the end.
Suggested pairings with the Pinot Grigio DOC
This wine is ideal with traditional mountain courses such as mushrooms, chicory risotto, and egg pasta with meat sauces. It is good also with sea food but it has to be flavored and structured. It is perfect the risotto with seafood and sea bass refilled of herbs. It has to be served between 8-10°C in a tulip wine glass.
