Wine description
From the vinification of Sangiovese grapes and small quantities of Merlot bred strictly within the company, the winery Frescobaldi, produces this sensational wine famous worldwide, rich in taste and prestige. During the winter there must be considerable rainfall, with snowy events until the end of February at most, which guarantee abundant water reserves for the summer. The spring season must be characterized by a good alternation of warm sunny days and cool and humid days. The plant reacts to this point with a consistent and luxuriant development of buds and a beautiful flowering. With the arrival of summer the rains have been decreasing; the months of July and August have given us hot and sunny days. In September, the almost total absence of rain and the presence of an important wind from the north, allowed the grapes to ripen in a particularly dry environment, leading them to a ripening and a significant concentration. The aging after vinification takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature. Then follows a further aging of 6 months in vat and a month in bottle.
Characteristics of this Chianti Docg
The wine shows a ruby red color with elegant shades of purple. The nose immediately emerges beautiful fruity notes: cherry, currant and raspberry. At a later stage, floral and at the same time fragrant notes emerge, such as violet. The taste in the mouth Chianti Castiglioni is lively, soft and enveloping. The finish is long and persistent. The aftertaste confirms the fruity hints, previously perceived to the nose.
Serving suggestions tasting this red wine
Tasty dishes such as pappardelle with meat sauce, but also roast chicken, beef strips with vegetables and some semi-mature cheese. It should be served at a temperature of 18°C in a wide glass.
