From 100% Pinot Noir grapes vinification coming from Castello di Pomino comes this sensational Rosé Classic Method sparkling wine. From the best Pinot Noir of Pomino, planted in 1855 by the audacious great-great-great-grandmother Leonia, returning from a long experience in the vicinity of Champagne. After the gold medal at the Paris Expo of 1878 for Pomino wines, experiments continued and it is assumed that there were the first attempts to create a Classic Method. After more than a century, Lamberto Frescobaldi has resumed the work begun by his great-great-grandmother, creating, in her memory, the Leonia Classic Method. Rosé is its most elegant, refined and feminine expression. The origin of the grapes is the classic one from the Tenuta del Castello di Pomino, in the Municipality of Pomino, and in the Municipality of Rufina. The refinement is carried out for 90% in stainless steel vats, and for 10% in French oak barriques.
Characteristics of the Sparkling Rosé LEONIA POMINO ROSE 'Brut Millesimato
The organoleptic examination shows a salmon-pink appearance with coppery reflections, the 2013 Leonia Rosé shows a continuous and persistent cord of fine bubbles. The nose is intensely fruity, with a predominance of hints of strawberry, blackberry and black cherry with hints of spicy notes. The taste is wide and round and soft, on the palate a sensation of red fruit returns, mainly blueberry and currant. Very persistent Brut, it leaves a fresh and pleasant finish of lime and green lemon.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this Rosé Classic Method sparkling wine
It is an extraordinary wine, which can be paired with delicate appetizers, raw fish, shellfish, sushi and fried seafood, but also with pasta dishes with strong flavors and roasted white meats. The optimal serving temperature is between 8°C and 10°C.
