Castello di Pomino

A hidden gem that is revealed to those who cross the first woods of the Florentine mountains, with vines that climb up to an altitude of 700 meters, surrounded by redwoods, firs and chestnut trees. Castello di Pomino dates back to 1500, the year of construction of the homonymous Castle and from the beginning stands out for the excellence of the place where it stands. This is testified by the story of 1716, when Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici identified the four most suitable territories of Tuscany to produce quality wines;  the territory of Pomino is listed next to Chianti, Carmignano and Val d'Arno di Sopra. In 1873 the wines of Pomino are awarded at the Universal Exhibition in Vienna, while in 1878 they get the Gold Medal at the Paris Expo, the highest international recognition of the time.
