The Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG is a red wine from Umbria. The grapes used for the production of this wine are 100% Sagrantino and come from the Romanelli agricultural company. The grapes are picked and put in wood crate, then they are destemmed and lightly pressed in October. It follows the fermentation with several pumping overs and lately the maceration process. These processes lasts about 50 – 60 days. Finally the wine is refined in barrels with different dimensions for, at least, 18 months.
The characteristics of the Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG
This Sagrantino di Montefalco has an intense red color with tannin reflections. The scent is spicy with a black berry aroma. The taste is very warm, rich with an evident persistence due to the charge of tannins which characterized it.
Suggested matches while tasting this Sagrantino by Romanelli
It has to be served in wide crystal wine glasses at 18°-20°C. It is suggested a settling time of about 2-3 hours before serving it to exalt its qualities. It is perfect with red meat in humid or grilled, game and white meats too.
