From the Ortonovo and Castenuovo magra vineyards in the La Spezia province where there is the best solar exposition and the most influent angulation to receive the sea winds, the Lunae winery produces a sensational white wine with Vermentino grapes vinified pure. The label “Numero Chiuso” is the representation of the union between the respect of the territory, the local tradition and the love for the good wine. The cultivation hills are located at 150-200 meters above the sea level and the soils are pebbly and rich of stones. The cultivation method is the Guyot with a density of 5000 units per hectare with a profit of 60 quintals per hectare. The grape harvest takes place in September during the first half of the month and the wine making process takes place in steel tanks for the fermentation of the grapes and a period of aging in little wooden oak barrels of 20 hl where the wine rests for 14 months until the final maturation on bottles which lasts 2 months in the freshness of the cellar.
Characteristics of the Vermentino Colli di Luni "Numero Chiuso" DOC
It has an intense, bright and fine straw yellow color with golden reflections. The scent is intense and rich with a floral bouquet which reminds the Mediterranean scrub with ripen white fruit aromas of pear. The taste is balanced, fresh with little balsamic and mineral hints. The final is quite persistent for a white wine with remarkable almond aromas and the right acidity.
