The label Rosso di Valtellina DOC is a denomination which reunited the most part of the Valtellina DOC area which strictly follow the technical policy of production. This area intends the less rocky and steeped areas of the Retica bank. The Vino Rosso di Valtellina of the Rainoldi winery has a fruitier aroma and a lighter scent compared to the Valtellina Superiore. It mellows after one aging year and it is a fresh and quality mealtime wine. It is produced with Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes cultivated in the administrative areas of Albosaggia, Piateda, Ponte in Valtellina and Tresivio towns. The exposition is south and the soils are located between 250 and 550 meters above the sea level. The soil is silty-sand and it is rich of organic substances which give body and structure to the wines. The harvest takes place in the second half of October and according to the Rainoldi tradition is manual. The wine making process is made under temperature control with constant reshuffles of the marc to exalt the characteristics of freshness and drinkability of the product. The wine pass through some months in Slavonia oak barrels and ends in the bottles.

It has a ruby red color with a rich flowers and fresh fruits scent exalted in the palate by an harmonic, fragrant and drinkable touch.

The Rosso di Valtellina is a versatile wine drinkable as appetizer or with starters, main courses and young chesses. It is perfect with cold cuts and spread sauces. It has to be served at 15°C in Ballon wine glass to exalt the expansion of the scent and to perceive the rich bouquet.
