The Nino Negri winery produces this Sforzato Carlo Negri DOCG wine with Chiavennasca grapes which is the local denomination of the Nebbiolo. The cultivation area is the Valtellina Superiore and the soils are located at south at 350-500 meters above the sea level. The cultivation method is the Guyot and the soils are sandy-lime not very fertile and sustained by dry walls. The picking takes place in the second decade of September and it ends at the end of the month. The grapes are left to wither and they loose the 30-35% of their weight. At the beginning of January there is maceration for 16 days. The maturation and the refinement takes place before in steel and then in French oak barrels of 32-52 hectoliters for 24 months. It follows a bottle refinement period.
