Wine list | Chianti |
The Chianti produced by Salcheto winery is an intense red wine suitable for everyday use, its versatility and its great balance see it alongside the best traditional Tuscan dishes. Daily wine, ready to drink, based on Sangiovese, mainly present in the blend (85%), Canaiolo, Merlot and Mammolo, is completed with an aging of a part of the mass in "tonneaux" 300 lt American oak. Particular characteristic for the excellent Sienese wine concerns the timing and timeliness in the processing of grapes. Since the month of June, the wine year has been marked by high temperature peaks accompanied by intense brightness, capable of destabilizing the overall balance of the plant and its ability to ripen fruits. Great attention was once again placed on the selections at the tables of choice even if the vines have shown, on the whole, an impressive ability to adapt to this new and complex climate scenario. The result is in fact a wine of incredible intensity of color and good structure. The first vintage of production was that of 1997.
Features of this Chianti Docg
This label of Salcheto winery is an elegant wine suitable for any type of meal, to be used daily to accompany the typical local cuisine. The grapes are grown in the Sienese geographical area of Poggio Piglia in Chiusi and extend for about 9 hectares. The annual production reaches 65000 bottles. The vinification process sees a period of aging of the grapes of at least 4 months, 30% of which spent in barrels of tonneaux. The subsequent aging takes place in small glass bottles for a further 3 months; while the expected maturation is at least 2 or 3 years.
Recommended pairings tasting this Tuscan red wine
It goes perfectly with all the dishes of Mediterranean cuisine, both light and structured, grilled vegetables and grilled white meat. It goes well with meat sauce and spicy sauces. Also the egg pasta topped with creams both structured and lighter goes well. It should be served fresh enough to enhance the aroma and taste. The ideal temperature is 16-18ºC. The ideal glass is the Ballon or Gran Ballon that allow oxygenation and give off aromas.
