Going against the mainstream, Bruno Vespa chose to give his name not to the winery's most important wine but to the one with the lowest price, with the aim of bringing as many people as possible closer to a wine with excellent quality/price ratio. This red wine from Salento is made from pure Primitivo grapes from vineyards located 90 m above sea level, on clay soils: harvested during the harvest of the first ten days of September, the grapes are macerated on the skins according to red winemaking for about ten days. After malolactic fermentation in barriques, the final aging phase is reached for 4 months in Never and Troncais barriques.
Characteristics of this Salento wine
It has a deep, bright ruby red color. The olfactory notes recall cherry, plum, vanilla, and spices. On the palate it is enveloping, with soft tannins and a persistent finish.
Recommended pairings with this Primitivo Bruno wine
Excellent with red meats: roasts, grills, pasta with ragù. Also excellent with aged cheeses such as smoked provola. Serve at 12-14°C.
