Pinot Grigio DOC "Unterebner" TRAMIN

The production of this fantastic Pinot Grigio Unterebner takes place in the core of the Alto Adige where is located the Tramin winery. This white wine from Trentino is the result of a wine project among 300 farmers connected to this land from generations. It is capable of expressing all the elegance and the smell of a unique terroir which is always been connected to the mountains, the nature and its rhythm. The Pinot Grigio Unterebner has the Alto Adige DOC denomination and it is produced by 100% Pinot grigio grapes. The soil of the company is located between 400 and 600 meters above the sea level and it is made by pebbly, clay and calcar. The vines are between 10 and 30 years old and the exposition is for the 85% at South-east and the 15% at south. The climate is made by strong thermal excursions with hot days and cold nights because of the winds of the mountains. The grape harvest takes place at the half of September and it occurs manually. The slow fermentation at 18°-20°C takes place partially in tonneaux barrels where it takes place the malolactic fermentation. It follows the racking off with the natural sedimentation method. Finally the aging and the maturation which initially take place in big wood barrel of 30-40hl follow for another part in tonneaux always in contact with the yeasts, up to August. After the bottling the wine has to rest for 4 months for a further maturation up to 15 months.

Characteristics of the Pinot Grigio "UNTEREBNER" DOC wine

It has a gold yellow color with very tiny aromas of fresh and elegant pear and hay together with toasted bread flavored with butter, tobacco hints, vanilla and incense. The taste is rich, soft, and thick with the typical alpine freshness, a right juice consistence with mineral persistent and with a great character end.

This wine of Trentino is perfect with light courses such as fish or lightly spaced white meats. It is also perfect with steamed fish or meats or with grilled vegetables. It has to be served at 14°C in a medium size wine glass.
