This is a classic red wine of the Trentino tradition. It is made by 100% Lagrein grapes. The renowned Kettmeir winery produces this sensational red Lagrein DOC Alto Adige wine by respecting the local tradition and the culture of those people who valorized and appreciated it during the years. The wine is vinified in red by the maceration on peels under temperature control at 23-26°C for 8-10 days to concentrate in the must all the grapes fragrances. The aging takes place in big steel tanks for 5-6 months depending on the body you want to get from the wine and the final aging period occurs in bottles. The soil where the Lagrein grapes are cultivated is mostly fresh, deep, fertile, sandy and well drained with almost no rocks. They are located at 200-350 meters above the sea level in a flat valley floor with some alternated hills all along the Adige valley at the south side.
Characteristics of the Lagrein Alto Adige DOC wine
It has a bright ruby red color with evident purple reflections; the intense perfume reminds the blueberry jam with prune and violet hints very persistent. The taste is structured with a good persistence, a great softness and roundness.
