Wine description

The Chardonnay Valle d’Aosta DOP is produced with Chardonnay grapes used at 100%. The Cuvée is honored by the DOP certification (Protect origins) which guarantees the territory and production rootedness. The production area which is almost the same for all the Les Cretes winery is Frissonnière in the Saint Christophe hamlet in the Aosta province. The vines which are 15 years old are cultivated on slope morainic, loose, sandy soils which are exposed at north-east. They are at 600-850 meters above the sea level. The vines are extended for 4 hectares and are cultivated with the French Guyot. The trees density is 7000 units per hectares. There is a manual grape harvest which takes place at the half of September when the grapes are fully ripen. There is a soft pressing of the grapes and the following fermentation which lasts 12 days. This process takes place in stainless steel tanks at 18°C. The aging lasts 6 months with several bâtonnages.

Characteristics of the Chardonnay Valle d'Aosta DOP

This wine has excellent characteristics: the aspect is absolutely clear with a straw yellow color with light green reflections. The perfume is fruity and delicate with remarkable exotic fruits hints. The taste is balanced, soft, persistent and mineral.

Suggested pairings with this great white wine from Valle d'Aosta

This wonderful wine is perfect with starters, vegetables soups, pasta with vegetables and boiled meats. It is perfect also with pies, omelets, fish, roasted white and red meats or with medium aged cheeses. It has to be served at 14°C in tulip wine glasses to concentrate the scent to the nose.
