This sensational Langhe Nebbiolo DOC is composed by 100% Nebbiolo. The vineyards called “Sperss” are cultivated in the subzone “Marenca-Rivette”, in the district of Serralunga. The lands here create a fantastic amphitheatre that covers a surface of 12 hectares. The soil is compact, composed by clay, marl, limestone. It is south-oriented, with an elevation of 370 meters on the sea level. The vines are around 50 years old. The wine making process starts with three weeks of fermentation and maceration, followed by 30 months aging. Langhe Nebbiolo DOC “Sperss” is another “masterpiece” of Angelo Gaja. Smooth and elegant, it matures one year in barrique and other 18 months in big barrels. Its aging potential is extraordinary. Its structure, joined to its class make it fantastic. It is worth to taste it at least once.
Features of red wine “Barolo Sperss” produced by Gaja winery
Intense garnet red colour and delicious scent that recalls a lot of shades: from plum, cassis and red berries to leather, flowers, truffle and dried mushrooms. The taste is fresh, structured, smooth, with a good tannin and a great final.
