Gaja Winery produces in Piedmont this great bottle of Barbaresco with 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Barbera grapes. The vineyards are located in “Costa Russi”, in the district of Barbaresco, at the base of the hill where the village arises. The soil is composed by marls full of clay and limestone, with a surface of 4,35 hectares, a south-orientation and an elevation of 230 meters on the sea level. The vines are around 65 years old. Fermentation and maceration last for three weeks, while the aging, in wood, lasts for 24 months.
Features of “Barbaresco Costa Russi” red wine produced by Gaja
This wine shows a ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The perfume is enchanting and classy, with a lot of scents that go along together, like blackberry, violet and coffee. The taste is elegant and smooth, with a great structure supported by tannins and a great persistence. The aging potential is extraordinary.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this Barbaresco produced by Gaja
Great with roasted meat, game, and aged cheese. It is suggested to serve it in a high, wide wineglass, that helps oxygenation.
