Wine description

This Gewürztraminer produced by Alois Lageder is the result of the grapes selected in different zones of Alto Atesina, cultivated on lands rich of sands. Even if all these lands, located near Termeno, Magrè and Lago di Caldaro are characterized by a warm climate, the winery is able, through a carful harvest in different moments, to give its wine the right freshness and the typical features of its variety, bleb le like minerality and class. If there is then possibility they harvest part of the grapes affected by noble mould. The vine variety used for the production is Gewürztraminer, cultivated with dynamic and biological method, certified Demeter. The grapes come from selected vineyards located in the alluvial area of Magrè, Termeno and Lago di Caldaro. The soils, whose elevation swings between 240-370 meters on the sea level, are composed by sands, gravel and a lot of limestone. The vines are between 12-26 years old and the harvest, developed during September in different moments, helps the maturation of the grapes. The wine making considers the spontaneous fermentation directly followed by the aging of at least 9 months, part in wooden barrels and part in steel containers, as the tradition of the region suggests.
