The Vigna di Gabri is a particular white wine of the Donnafugata winery that prides itself on some territorial characteristics that unquestionably enhance both the quality and the refinement. The grapes are grown in the territories adjacent to the headquarters of the winery, which is located in Marsala. The soils, thanks to the favorable exposure, are positively affected by the influence of sea winds that, thanks to the salt they transport, give the grapes and wine a grade of salinity and minerality that increases their intrinsic qualities. The grapes used for its vinification are mainly Ansonica grapes; according to the vintages the blend is completed with other grapes always autochthonous. The breeding takes advantage of the espalier control method and of the pruning technique with spurred cordon. The average planting density is about 5.000 vines per hectare, the production is medium/ high, reaching about 60 quintals per hectare of land planted with vines. For the vinification process the grapes are subjected to soft pressing. The must ferments at controlled temperature in steel barrels. The wine then ages for 85% in tanks and for 15% in French oak barrels, and ages at least three months before being marketed.
