Lumera Rosato Terre Siciliane Donnafugata

Lumera by Donnafugata is produced with a refined blend of grapes consisting of Syrah, Nero d'Avola, Tannat and Pinot Noir. Vineyards reared within the company at the estate of Contessa Entellina, at a height above sea level between 200 and 600 meters. The soils have geological characteristics of the highest quality. Mainly clay reaction sub-alkaline with pH from 7,5 to 7,9. The total limestone ranges from 20% to 35% and are rich in nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese and zinc. Bred with the system of the back support, with wooden poles and steel wires; the pruning in spurred cordon, is centered to leave from 6 to 10 buds for each plant. This allows a planting density of 4.500 to 6.000 plants per hectare. The yield per hectare is about 75 quintals. The vinification is started with the cold prefermentative maceration in the press for 24 hours at controlled temperature of 10-12°C. The fermentation takes place in steel, at controlled temperature. The aging takes place in the tank and then at least two months in bottle before being marketed.

Lumera Rosato's features

The color is soft pink of great brightness. The organoleptic examination allows us to express some tasting notes that suggest the quality and refinement of this exceptional rose wine. It is characterized by a markedly fruity bouquet, where the predominant hints of wild strawberry and raspberry are combined with the thinner ones of cherry and pomegranate. In the mouth we find the fruit, well balanced by a fresh acidity and a pleasant flavor. The palate is round and pleasant; the acidity never dominates the notes of fresh fruit.

The Lumera by Donnafugata is an exceptional wine to be combined with hot and cold appetizers of sea cuisine, raw fish and in particular shellfish; pasta dishes based on vegetables or slightly seasoned white meat. We also recommend it on fish fries, fresh cheeses and seconds of roasted fish. It should be served in medium-sized glasses, without flaring, of good height. It does not need decantation and it should be served at 10°C, maximum 12°C if combined with hot dishes. Bright and pleasant it is ideal for many occasions that embrace the whole day. From the aperitif, to the light lunch, to a dinner with friends.
