Wine description

This is an exceptional and fantastic wine form the “Le selezioni” line of the Terlano winery and it is also a reference wine for the Trentino Alto Adige. The label Sauvignon Blanc “Quarz” is honored by the DOC certification Alto adige and represents one of the most important wines produced with 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. With the same elegance of the quartz of the volcanic inserts this Sauvignon selection honors its name. Within its peculiarities the most remarked ones are the refined structure, the deepness and the salty aftertaste. The grapes harvest is made manually and it follows the bunches racking off and the slow fermentation under temperature control with the delicate handling of the must in stainless steel tanks. The following fermentation and the aging lasts 9 months on fine yeasts. This last part takes place for a 30% in big wood tuns, the 20% in barrels and the remaining 50% in stainless steel tanks. Before three months from the commercialization the wine is assembled and bottled. The production area is located at 250-500 meters above the sea level. The exposition is South, South-west and the slopes have an inclination of 35%.

Characteristics of the white wine Sauvignon "Quarz" Doc

The name of the wine “Quartz” comes from the strong connection with the territory. It has a bright straw yellow color. The perfume has an exotic bouquet really captivating. There are many mango, papaya, lime and red grapefruit aromas but also lemongrass, lemon balm, mint and green tea. There are also some elder and mineral hints. The taste has a great balance between the fruity aromas with the mineral ones, creating a decide and persistent aftertaste.

Suggested pairing with this white wine

The wine “Quartz” is perfect with oysters, salmon tartare or raw crustacean but also the green apple risotto with grilled arctic char or with steam lobster, roasted lamb with braised asparagus cream or aged goat cheese. It is very good with white Asparagus risotto from Terlano. It has to be served at 14°C in a Borgogna wine glass.
