Wine description

This refined and polyvalent red wine of the Col D’Orcia winery is the perfect mix within innovation and respect for the local tradition. The Rosso Nearco Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC wine of the Col D’Orcia is produced in the Montalcino area on the Sant’Angelo hill. The soils are made of calcareous pebbly with a south, south-west exposition. The wine is made by a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet, 15% Syrah and the remaining 5%  with Petit Verdot grapes. The grape harvest takes place in an average time for the different varieties expect the Syrah which has to ripe more time to improve the complexity of the wine. The wine making process starts with a separate fermentation of the grapes is steel tanks. It follows the maceration for 20 days at temperature control. It follows the malolactic fermentation in the cement and the first pouring is made in February-March in barrels. The aging period is made separately and lasts 12 months in French oak barrels. To exalt the fruity aroma, the Merlot is put in French oak barrels of 500 liters. After a year since the grape harvest, the blend is made directly in casks. The stability is obtained during the second winter by undergoing the blend to a cold weather to obtain a natural way to limpid the wine. Once bottled, the wine must rest for further 6 months.
