Cortona DOC Syrah "Achelo" Antinori

The red wine Achelo is honored by the Cortona DOC Syrah certification and it is produced in the La Braccesca winery with 100% Syrah grapes. The Syrah grapes are picked at the second half of September. After the destemming and the pressing of the berries it starts the maceration firstly at 10°C to extract the typical aromas of the vine and then at 28°C to keep the aroma and the integrity of the grape. After about 10 days, the 70% of the wine is put in wood where it takes place the malolactic fermentation and where it starts its maturation process. The remaining part goes in to the steel. The bottling takes place in winter to guarantee the youth and freshness of the wine.

Characteristics of this wine "La Braccesca"

It has the aroma of a young and dynamic wine with an intense violet color. The smell has white pulp fruit aromas together with tobacco and pepper. The palate is full and soft with white peach, prune and blackberry aromas together with tobacco and spices.

Suggested pairings with this Syrah

Achelo DOC La Braccesca is a meal wine. It is perfect with main courses such as the vegetables risotto or with mushroom creams, red meat and every kind of cheese. It has to be served at 18°C in a Ballon wine glass.
