The denomination for this fantastic red wine produced in Brancaia winery, Tuscany, is DOCG, the highest grade of the oenological classification. This assembly is composed by 98% Sangiovese and 2% Canaiolo. Brancaia “Chianti Classico DOCG” is the expression of a territory where the variety Sangiovese takes to the limit its authentic character. One year of aging in oak barrels gives this wine its typical freshness and the highest quality of its denomination. The harvest is spread from the middle to the end of September. A first fermentation at controlled temperature (28-30° C) is then followed by maceration, that can last also 13 days, depending on the years of production. The maturation is done for 2/3 of the product in steel and for 1/3 in concrete containers. The aging goes on in oak barrels for at least 12 months and after this phase, in November, the product is finally bottled.
Features of this red wine “Chianti Classico DOCG”
It has a ruby red colour with the typical lack of intensity of Sangiovese vine-variety. The scent recalls red fruits and aromatic herbs that become after a few minutes shades of undergrowth, violet and graphite. The taste is fresh and tannins support the long-lasting persistence of this wine.
