It is the king of the Italian wines and it praises the denomination “Barolo DOCG”. This wine is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, coming from the historical vineyard “Brunate”, in La Morra, located in the southern side, in direction of Barolo. The average density is 4600 stumps per hectare on a surface that measures around 1 hectare. The vines, that are 50 years old, are located on soils characterized by clay and limestone. The fermentation process is managed in steel containers, where the must stays in contact with the peels for three weeks. This period includes the maceration before and after the fermentation, using the ancient method called “submerged cap”. The malolactic fermentation is developed in barriques. The aging in big oak barrels and in barriques lasts 32 months. After this period the wine is bottled without filtration. Vietti produces this sensational Barolo DOCG with one of the most important crü of the district of La Morra, the one called “Brunate”. 43 years old Vines, 23 days fermentation in contact with peels, 32 months aging. A great non-traditional Barolo, with a fabulous predisposition for maturation.
Features of “Barolo Rocche di Castiglioni” produced by Vietti
The organoleptic analysis shows a deep ruby red colour. Its perfume is wide, complex, classy and recalls small mature fruits like cherry, plum, currant, aromatic herbs and liquorice. After a while leather and mint sensation come out. The taste is structured, energic, with important tannins as a great Barolo requires and a good alcoholic structure.
