Wine description

This is a great red Italian wine composed by Nebbiolo grapes. The name “Barolo” comes from a namesake hamlet located in the “Langa” a territory few km far from the south of Alba. This wine is produced in 11 hamlets all indicated in the technical policies of production. All the hamlets are located in the Langa territory where there are some castles which dominate the hills, among which, Barolo. The production territory of the Barolo Massucco is in the administrative boundaries of Monforte Bussia in the Langhe.  The exposition is South-east with the direct light of the sun. The cultivation is located at 400 meters above the sea level on a clay soil with some sandy parts. The cultivation method is the espalier and the pruning method is the Guyot. The annual production is 80 quintals and the fermentation takes place in horizontal steel tanks under temperature control. Also the maceration takes place in steel tanks and the following refinement occurs in oak barrels for 12 months.

Characteristics of the red wine Barolo from Piedmont

The organoleptic characteristics give a garnet red color with orange reflections which are remarkable under the sun light. The scent is intense, pleasant and persistent. It is also wide and very agreeable. The taste is pleasant too, dry, full and harmonic.

Suggested matches with the Barolo

The ideal serving temperature of the Barolo Massucco is 22°C and the ideal wine glasses are the medium Ballon or big Ballon which permits at the same time a good oxygenation and the concentration of the scent towards the nose. The ideal matches are with second courses typical of the tradition of Piedmont. It is perfect with chicken, rabbit, staffed vegetables with fused cheese, mixed cheese grilled and boiled and fried meats. The best matches ever with the Barolo Massucco is the “Braised meat cooked in the Roero wine with aromatic herbs and capers”.
