The Rosso di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura vineyards are located around The Poggio alle Mura castle which are perfect for the cultivation of the Sangiovese and for this reason the first clones were planted in 1982. The soils are located at 210-220 meters above the sea level and the color of the soil is yellow-brown with sand and big rocks with limestone. The grapes used are 100% Sangiovese and the cultivation method is the cordon spur pruning. The density is 4200 trees per hectare and the profit is 70 quintals. The grapes are kept under temperature control in Horizon wood barrels for 7-10 days and then it ages in French oak barrels for 12 months and a final refinement in bottle.
Characteristics of the Rosso di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura DOC
It has an intense ruby red color. The smell is fresh and fruity with cherry and black berry aromas with licorice, tobacco and nuts. The taste is wide and soft also very long.

It is perfect with red meats and game but also with medium aged cheeses. The structure and the softness make it suitable to be aged. The service temperature must be 18°C in a wide wine glass and the proof is 13.5%.
