This reserve red wine from Cantina Vignaioli Scansano is made from mainly Ciliegiolo grapes grown on loamy soils at about 150 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested in mid-September, after careful selection, followed by maceration at 35°C for 12 hours, then fermentation at a controlled temperature and maceration on the skins for 8 days. The ageing process takes place in 225-litre French oak barriques for 6 months, followed by a final 10 months of bottle ageing.
Characteristics of this Tuscan wine
It has a ruby red colour with a complex and varied bouquet of spices, dark fruits and flowers. On the palate, it is smooth and well-balanced, with rounded tannins and great softness.
Recommended pairings with this Tuscan red wine
Try it with meat dishes such as roasts or braised meats, but also with mature cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
