This Morellino di Scansano DOCG Roggiano Biologico from Cantina Vignaioli Scansano is made from a special selection of grapes from certain vineyards, specifically a blend of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo grapes. The vineyards are between 10 and 20 years old and are located at an altitude of 250-300 metres above sea level. The harvest takes place at the end of September, when the grapes are picked at perfect ripeness and protected with dry ice. This is followed by 12 hours of warm maceration and subsequent fermentation at a controlled temperature. The final stage of ageing on fine lees until malolactic fermentation is complete.
Characteristics of this Tuscan wine
It has a deep ruby colour with purple reflections. The bouquet has fruity and floral notes as well as spices and undergrowth. On the palate, it is fresh, fruity and well-balanced, with noticeable but balanced tannins.
Recommended pairings with this Tuscan red wine
Best drunk young but with good ageing potential after 2-3 years from harvest. Excellent with savoury dishes based on red meat or game. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
