Etna Rosso "CONTRADA MARCHESA" DOC Donnafugata

The denomination for this sensational red wine of the Sicilian tradition is that of Etna Rosso DOC Contrada Marchesa. The grape variety used for its production is 100% pure Nerello Mascalese. The production area is that of Eastern Sicily - north side of Etna. The harvest includes a careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard, which is then harvested manually in boxes. It follows immediately after the vinification with fermentation in steel with maceration on the skins for 10-12 days at a controlled temperature of 25ºC. The aging develops for 14 months in French oak barrels type second and third passage. Then it continues for over 18 months in bottle before being marketed.

The organoleptic examination shows an aspect of light ruby red color. The scent is a fragrant bouquet with hints of small red fruits, spicy notes (cinnamon and black pepper) and undergrowth, followed by balsamic nuances and a delicate mineral note. On the palate the taste is distinguished by the great balance characterized by a good freshness and structure. The fine tannic texture lengthens the persistence and enhances the elegance of this cru.

A red wine excellent with risotto, meat and game. Try it also with legume soups or delicately spicy vegetables. The optimal serving temperature is 16ºC in a wide glass that guarantees a good oxygenation.
