Wine description

Messiio IGT Toscana from Tenuta Fertuna is one of the company's flagship wines, produced in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma exclusively in the finest vintages. This is a red made from pure Merlot grapes, sourced from the estate's longest-running and most select vineyards, with the aim of maximizing the softness and roundness typical of this grape variety. Production involves a very careful selection of grapes and careful winemaking, with partial fermentation in wood. The wine is then aged for about twelve months in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second pass, and subsequently left to rest in the bottle for at least six months. This process helps develop depth, aromatic complexity and remarkable structure.

 


Characteristics of this Tuscan wine

On organoleptic examination it appears with a very intense red color, tending towards garnet. On the nose it is broad and enveloping, characterized by scents of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by elegant notes of vanilla. With evolution, more complex sensations emerge that are reminiscent of tobacco, chocolate and light shades of caramel. In the mouth it is round, full-bodied and intense, with an important but balanced structure, supported by a good harmony between softness and tannic components, and with a long and satisfying persistence.

This wine from Tenuta Fertuna is suitable for structured dishes such as grilled or roasted red meats, braised meats, game, first courses with meat sauces and aged cheeses, with which it manages to enhance both the aromatic component and the structure. The ideal service temperature is around 16–18 °C.
