This Vigne di Zamò's Schioppettino DOC is produced with 100% grapes, harvested during early October in the company's vineyards of Rosazzo, Udine. Maceration takes place in truncated-conical wooden vats for 15 days, followed by racking and pressing of the marc, with decanting into barriques. After 18 months of aging, the wine is blended and bottled.
Vigne di Zamò’s Schioppettino DOC features
On the organoleptic examination, this Friulian red wine shows a ruby red colour with violet reflections and the nose is impressive for its complexity: notes of red fruit, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, incense, leather and coffee. In the mouth it is complex, structured, pleasantly persistent.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this red wine
The spicy notes make it the perfect accompaniment to aged cheeses or fine dark chocolate in a meal for true enthusiasts. This wine should be served at a temperature of 10°C in a not very large glass.
