In this label are reunited all the peculiarities of the Montefalco territory which is a traditional wine area. It is produced with 100% local Sagrantino grapes according to the technical policy of production of the DOCG certification. The first ear produced was1979. It is used the cordon spur pruning with a density of 6000 units per hectare. The profit is 50-60 quintals per hectare but it depends on the years and on the vines which are more or less 22 years old. The aging takes place in French oak barrels for 22 months and 6 months in bottle.
Characteristics of the red wine Collepiano by Arnaldo Caprai
It has some black berry, pepper, cloves and vanilla aromas together with balsamic and face powder hints. The taste is powerful but elegant with great tannins, roundness and excellence. It can be aged up to 15 years.
