The Mandrarossa winery is the clear and authentic passion of the Sicilian wine tradition for its smells, tastes, and conviviality. A young, new, different reality which is very careful to the past and to the history and it expresses it in its wines. The Rosé wine "Il Perricone" is a real good Sicilian wine. It grows close to the sea where there is the wind influence. In this rosé version the wine is fresh and versatile with spring aromas. The production area is the Menfi one on the south-west coast and it is made by the Perricone grapes honored by the IGT Terre di Sicilia certification. The cultivation soil is located at 100-250 meters above the sea level and the soils are clay. The grape harvest takes place in the third decade of August and it follows the cryomaceration of the grapes at 3-5°C for 6-8 hours and then the must ferments for 20 days in steel tanks at 12°C. The bottle aging period lasts 3 months.
Characteristics of the Perricone Rosé
The cherry color reminds the smell rich of rose, cherry, strawberry and raspberry aromas which are joined by a round and long taste which is also elegant with a clear aroma. It is a fresh and young wine exactly like the production winery.
Suggested pairings with this rosè wine
It is perfect with the beef, the legumes soups, and the vegetables soups and with medium aged cheeses. It has to be served in a wide and tall white wine glass to appreciate all the aromas.
