The red wine Montefalco Sagrantino Passito (raisin wine) DOCG is a renamed and prestigious label both for the producing company Arnaldo Caprai and for local tradition of Montefalco a great wine area internationally renowned. It is produced with 100% Sagrantino grapes. The vines are cultivated with the cordon spur pruning with a density of 7000 units per hectare. The profit almost doesn’t achieve the 50 quintals per hectare which denotes a prestigious and quality wine. The wine making process is standard and it ends with a special aging period of 15 months in French oak barrels and 12 months in bottle.
Characteristics of the Passito di Sagrantino DOCG
This wine has an incredible sweetness. It has some blackberry and strawberry jam aromas together with vanilla and cinnamon. The taste is sweet and warm, soft and intense and the tannins make their work by balancing the sugars.

The Montefalco Sagrantino DOC Passito is perfect with sweets and bakery of the tradition from Umbria. It is perfect with “tozzetti", tarts, dark chocolate and creamy or aged cheeses. It has to be served at 16-18°C in a Renano wine glass and it can be aged up to 15 years.
