The Sosta Tre Santi Nerello Mascalese is the “Cru” of the Etna produced by the Nicosia winery. It is a red wine, aged for long time, and the result of the best grapes of the Monte Gorna vineyards. It is few produced and it represents the highest expression of the passion and the love for the wine that inspired the Nicosia winery since a century. This wine is made by 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes. The cultivation soils are sandy volcanic, rich of minerals and located at 700-750 meters above the sea level. The cultivation method is the trellised with the cordon spur pruning. The manual picking takes place in the second-third week of October and it follows the cold maceration at 22°C. Finally, it takes place the French oak barrels refinement for 12 months and further 12 months in bottle.
Characteristics of the Sosta Tre Santi Nerello Mascalese Sicilia wine
It has a ruby red color with garnet reflections when aged. The smell is intense and spicy with elegant red fruits aromas together with aromatic herbs and balsamic hints. The taste is elegant, full and harmonic with a great persistence.
