Merlot DOC Venica

This sensational wine that belongs to the line Venica&Venica comes from the area of Collio, Friuli Venezia Giulia and it is produced with 100% Merlot. The wine making process considers that the maceration of the pressed grapes lasts for 8 days.  Then, the 50% of the must matures in big barrels (50 HL) and the other 50% in steel. During the maturation period, that lasts 7 month, the wine completes its malolactic fermentation.

Features of “Merlot DOC”

The aspect shows a shiny ruby red colour. The perfume is warm and enchanting, with sensation of dark fruits like cherry and blackberry followed by spicy hints of cinnamon and cloves. Its taste recalls herbs and fruits. It is harmonious, medium-structured and characterized by light tannins.

Recommended food pairings while tasting this red wine by Venica

This red wine matches perfectly with the typical local dishes like “Brovada e muset”, red meats, roasted meat, poultry and medium-aged cheeses. It has to be served at 18°C in a high, tapered wine glass.
