This Merlot DOC from Le Vigne di Zamò Winery is a soft and fresh red at the same time, pleasantly spicy, with great persistence. After the harvest in mid-September, the Merlot grapes grown on the company's vineyards in Rosazzo, Udine, are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in steel; during fermentation, punching down, delestage and pumping over are alternated for 10-12 days. With the racking, the pomace is pressed so that only the wine remains, which is left in steel where the malolactic fermentation takes place. After an aging of 12 months in barrels and barriques, the wine is bottled.
Characteristics of this Merlot "Vigne 50 years" Doc from the Le Vigne di Zamò winery
Upon organoleptic examination, this Friulian red wine shows an intense and deep ruby red color. The nose expresses aromas of red fruit, leather, cocoa, coffee and spices in an overall enveloping sensation. On the palate it is decisive but harmonious in the complexity of tastes and balanced in its acidity. You can perceive the sensations of currant, black cherry, licorice and cocoa with an impressive structure and persistence.
