Wine description

Livio Felluga winery produces this sensational Friulano that praises the denomination DOC “Friuli Colli Orientali”. The lands where the plants are cultivated are characterized by a thick layer of Flysch marls and sandstones of Eocenic origin. Friulano is a typical variety of Friuli and has a great personality. With its structure and its fruity, mineral complexity, it reveals, at the end of the tasting, a characteristic final that recalls bitter almonds. The wine making considers the elimination of stalks and a brief period of maceration. After the soft pressing, the must is clarified through static decanting. The fermentation is managed in steel containers at controlled temperature. It is followed by 6 months aging on lees, in steel. After the bottling, the wine is stocked for two months in thermo-conditioned rooms.

The organoleptic aspect reveals a bright yellow colour with beautiful green reflections that underline its youth. Its perfume is complex and delicate at the same time, recalling mango, melon, coconut milk, cherry flowers, mint, pepper and herbs like nettle. The taste is soft at the beginning, sour in the middle and mineral at the end, recalling hints of seaweed.

 

Recommended food pairings while tasting this white wine

This wine is perfect for happy hours, as the local tradition recommends. It is fabulous with “prosciutto crudo”, salami and cold cuts, but it goes on well with fish and fresh cheeses too. It has to be served at 14°C in a high wide wine glass.
