The Etna Rosso Superiore of Cantina Barone di Villagrande is mainly obtained with 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mantellato grapes, grown in the company's vineyards of Milo and Castiglione di Sicilia, Catania, at 700 meters above sea level. After the harvest, we proceed with fermentation in steel for about 10 days, and aging in 500-liter chestnut barrels for 12 months. The wine is then bottled and aged in glass for one year.
Characteristics of Etna Rosso Superiore Doc
Upon organoleptic examination, this Sicilian wine shows a bright and fluid ruby red colour; floral and undergrowth aromas predominate on the nose which harmonize perfectly with herbaceous notes. In the mouth it immediately arrives elegant with a perfect balance between acidity and tannins on the one hand, fruit and minerality on the other.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this red wine
This Sicilian red wine is perfect in combination with cut red meat and tuna, also excellent with salami from the Nebrodi mountains. This wine should be served at a temperature of 18 ° C in a not very large glass.
