This marvelous white wine Chardonnay DOC is produced by the Meroi winery, founded in 1920, and located on the east hills of Friuli in the Buttrio hamlet in the Udine province. It is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes. The denomination is the Meroi Chardonnay DOC. The vineyards are exposed at south-east and south at 100 meters above the sea level and they are extended for 2,5 hectares. The soil is marl and the cultivation method is the French Guyot with the picking of the grapes in the first week of September. The fermentation under temperature control occurs in barrels for 20 days and the malolactic fermentation takes place only if natural. There is a passage in barrels for 8 months and the bottle refinement for 4 months.
Characteristics of this Chardonnay DOC wine
It has a bright straw yellow color with elegant gold reflections. The smell is floral of lilium and it follows the pineapple, and the passion fruits aromas with a light musk hint. The taste is round, powerful, elegant with a mineral hint.
Suggested pairings while tasting this white wine
It is perfect with light cheeses or with risottos. It is also good with vegetables creams or mushrooms, but also with the sword fish and the white meats in general. The service temperature must be 12-14°C and it must be served in high and tapered wine glasses.
