Castello di Spessa

Castello di Spessa is an historical and at the same time mysterious place: its origins are unclear, which some date back to the Roman Empire, and its history has very little evidence until the year 1200, the year the first written sources date back. Among the many nobles and personalities connected to the Castle, stands out the name of Giacomo Casanova who at the time spent precious words on the vineyards and wines of the castle. Inside the Castle of Spessa there is the oldest cellar of Collio Goriziano, a unique cellar built on two levels: the first level, which according to some evidence dates back to 200, is mainly used for aging and for guided tours and tastings; the second level instead consists of a former Italian military bunker dating back to 1939 and is located 15 meters deep where, thanks to the constant temperature of fourteen degrees, Optimal conditions are established for the aging of the red Cru of the castle and the Grappa Riserva Conte Ludovico which is allowed to age for more than 20 years. The estate of Castello di Spessa can count on 30 hectares where the vines benefit from a climate of a favorable climate, making the grapes of the vineyards of the Castle of the highest quality. The harvest is done exclusively by hand and the vinification has the main objective of creating quality wines and especially extremely long-lived.
