This red wine is produced by the Banfi winery in the south side of the Montalcino’s hills on 170 hectares of vineyards. The soils are located at 220 meters above the sea level and it has a brown-yellow color and a sandy structure with limestones and abundant rocks. There are used 100% Sangiovese grapes cultivated with the cordon spur pruning method and the density is 4400 trees per hectare and the profit is 65 quintals per hectare. There is a selection of the grapes, it follows the maceration on the peels under temperature control and it takes place both in steel and in Horizon wooden barrels for about 10-12 days. The wine matures for 2 years for the 50%in French oak barrels of 60-90 hl and the remaining 50% in French oak barrels of 3,5 hl. The aging period in bottle lasts 8-12 months.
Characteristics of the Brunello di Montalcino Castello Banfi DOCG wine
It has an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. The smell is ethereal, with a large boquet and vanilla hints. The taste is soft, full, velvety and intense with licorice aromas together with spices and goudron.

It is perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses. It can be aged up to 8/10 years. The service temperature must be 16-18°C.
