A red wine directly from the tradition of Tuscany, produced by Brancaia winery. It has the denomination “IGT rosso Toscana” and it is composed by the blend of different vine varieties: 70% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The version called “IL BLU”(THE BLUE) is the top product of Brancaia. This IGT shows the capability of Brancaia winery to produce a wine rich of elegance, intensity and complexity. For a lot of wine lovers spread all over the world, this wine is already considered as a classic, may be also for its identity, demonstrated in each year of production, that recalls the character and the high level of our vines cultivated in the area of “Chianti Classico”. The grape harvest is done on the second half of September, in order to let the grapes reach the right level of maturity. The wine-making starts with a first fermentation phase at controlled temperature of 28° C, followed by a maceration of at least 18 days. The maturation is in new barriques for 2/3 of the product while the 1/3 left is placed in barriques already used once. The aging continues in the same containers for 20 months and after that, the wine complete its evolution in the bottle for 24 months.

Analysing the organoleptic aspect of this wine that is the symbol of Brancaia winery, you can certainly appreciate its ruby red colour. The scent has a compact profile where first hints of blackberry and black cherry marmalade leave space to black pepper, currant and cocoa. The taste is elegant and silky, characterized by a perception of warm and by the presence of a tannin that is marked, but never excessive or invasive. Its persistence closes the experience and leave to the palate a pleasant taste of fruit.
